Toronto born Hatley is a singer whose atmospheric pop has a delicate air of emotional detachment from the world while telling the story of growing up, heartache and longing with a pure, lilting touch that reveals a sensitive soul. With her feet firmly planted in pop, Hatley draws comparisons to Lorde and Lana Del Rey.
Hatley's career began in the backseat of the family car. In Canada, distances are great and her dad had a knack of creating long mix tapes for every family trip. It gave ample opportunity for Hatley to submerse herself in the music of Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, Elton John and Sheryl Crow, and sang on for hours. Her musical background was formed listening to the greats.
After school, a few half-hearted attempts at a conventional career path followed before Hatley chose to head to London to pursue songwriting. Arriving with a suitcase and a guitar, her demos began to build an army of fans across social media.
